Whether for financial reasons, living longer or simply a personal desire, millions of Americans are working well past retirement age. The workforce participation rate of Americans age 65-74 is expected to grow from about 26% to 31% by 2031, the BLS says. A report by LLC.org, a resource site for people forming limited liability companies, used census data to find the cities with highest percentage of working seniors.
Methodology: LLC.org analyzed senior workforce participation across 170 of the largest U.S. cities using data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2022 American Community Survey. The report focused on the percentage of seniors aged 65 and over who have been employed in the past 12 months.
